Our story is quite simple. Having spent a combined two decades working in investment banking, tech, and consulting - where working cultures and fashion norms vary wildly - we’ve thought a lot about socks. And there are a few things that we realized.
Colorful and gimmicky socks do not give a man personality; that comes from wit, intellect, and life experience. Moreover, socks do not add to a man’s fashion sense. We believe that statement is better made with a suit, tie, watch, or even a hoodie. Sorting and pairing socks is tedious and time-consuming, and color-matching socks with an outfit is an extra daily decision that we don’t want to bother with in the morning, especially if we’re hungover.
Finally, the comfort, feeling, and experience of new socks is vastly superior. So we threw away all of our socks, started ordering identical pairs, and then refreshing them every few months. However, this was still expensive and required effort. So we decided to create a better way - a subscription service, delivering premium-quality socks at a significant discount at regular intervals.
After hundreds of sock samples, we found the perfect design. This included creating an original blend that had more spandex added to the cuff to keep the socks from slipping, no plastic packing that could cause a run in the thread, and most important, a comfortable, breathable fabric with a silky feel.
We decided to name our company after one of our heroes, Beau Brummell, the founding father of modern fashion who rejected the idea of visible tights in 18th century London, choosing instead to allow his rich personality and meaningful fashion choices speak for him.
